…and congratulations. You have chosen the perfect vacation destination.
Whether you are ‘coming home’ or coming for the first time you will find a welcome here at the Bayview and in the Village of Alma. Many people who call us for a cottage or chalet tell us that they visited Fundy when they were children and now want to bring their own children to this unique area of New Brunswick. Others simply want to explore this quiet and unspoiled corner of Albert County and to experience for themselves the awesome reach of sea, sand and sky.
From the lobster boats at the dock to traditional seafood chowder at a local restaurant, this is a true maritime experience. Village life revolves around lobster fishing and nearby Fundy National Park so be prepared to listen to the rhythm of the tides and enjoy an authentic down east fishing village. Take advantage of the great nature trails in Fundy National Park, swim in the salt water pool or participate in one of the interpretive activities. Visit the Molly Kool Center which celebrates the first woman sea captain in North America and learn about our colorful local history. Walk out on the dock and watch the lobster boats returning with their catch, or just sit on the beach and experience the power of our 45 foot tides.
As owners of the Bayview Motel and Chalets we are always pleased to give you tips and directions to local attractions: Hopewell Rocks, Cape Enrage, Kayaking, Golfing, and local beaches. In the evening, come back to a comfortable two bedroom cottage or a quiet motel suite to enjoy a campfire and the incredible beauty of the night sky.
We look forward to being your hosts,
Jim and Linda Lindsay, Bayview Motel, Chalets and RV Park
Parade of the Lobster Fleet in Alma
The final lobster season for 2012 was celebrated in Alma on Oct 14 2012. Most of the town was on hand to wish them well as the fleet left the dock at 9:30. One of the boats even had its own pirate on board! Foods of the Fundy Valley was on hand to offer 5 types of chowder and the childrens’ activities were a great success. Many visitors and local folks followed up with a walk on the beautiful fall trails of Fundy National Park. We look forward to this becoming an annual event!
A story of east coast hospitality….
We had guests arrive to Hilltop Chalet very late last night. They had driven down route 114 where they had not found any open restaurants or even convenience stores. Upon arrival, at midnight, they ventured into the village of Alma. Nothing open, of course, but they did see the lights on in the new Alma Boat House restaurant. The cook was finishing up her evening. When Vijay & his son knocked gently on the door, they report that Josie opened up, brought them in, and cooked a magnificent dinner for them! This family from Cochrane, Ontario were deeply impressed by the East Coast style of hospitality. Way to go, Alma Boathouse!
