Happy 150 CANADA!

There will be lots of fun events and activities in the Fundy area as Canada celebrates her 150th birthday.  Take advantage of free admission to our National Parks and be sure to reserve early at the Bayview as our cottages and motel are filling up already!  For more information about Canada’s birthday see the Parks Canada Website.

Think Green – Drink Responsibly!

Stainless Steel water bottles

Check our tab “the Future is Green”  to see what we are doing to reduce the use of bottled water.  We are excited about this new program and encourage our guests to participate!

Hilltop & Creekside

From now on our guests to Hilltop & Creekside chalets will be enjoying brand new queen sized Simmons BeautyRest Pillowtops. Jim and I just finished the change over today and are feeling pretty pleased with ourselves… we are thinking we will have to reserve a night ourselves and try out the new beds!

Campfires at the Chalets

While many guests  like the camaraderie of our group campfire,  others want a smaller, family experience.  We now offer propane campfires at our chalets  — great ambiance without the risk of fire and the smudge of wood smoke.   Ask us about a campfire when you make your reservation or when you check in.

Better Beds

Don’t be fooled by the ‘vintage” look of our motel.    Our rooms are scrupulously clean and quiet  and  most rooms have been renovated to offer  bright modern bathrooms and a luxurious sleep on a  queen size  pillowtop mattress.

Zip Line at Cape Enrage

For a true taste of Fundy, visit modern and historic Cape Enrage.   The new zip line, opened in 2011,  is an adventerous way of viewing the turbulent waters which give the area its name. Or rappel down the 140 foot cliffs at low tide.    There is plenty of history as well,  in the abundant fossil formations and in the authentic working lighthouse. http://www.capeenrage.ca/en/experience-the-thrill-of-a-lifetime/zip-line

New 7Wonders of Nature

In 2011, The Bay of Fundy  received world recognition in the New 7 Wonders of Nature contest.    “The New7Wonders of Nature competition celebrates the most incredible, awe-inspiring natural wonders on this planet. It’s very fitting that we were able to visit the Bay of Fundy… to celebrate the fact it is among the 28 finalists,” said Bernard Weber, Founder and President of the New7Wonders Foundation.  “That tells you how significant this region is on a global scale. The world’s highest tides are truly an amazing natural phenomenon. Canadians should be very proud.” http://nature.n7w.com/archives/wonder/bay-of-fundy

Fundy Trail Parkway

The construction of Phase ll of the FUNDY TRAIL PARKWAY will link the existing parkway with Fundy National Park and create a world class coastal tourism route connecting the Reversing Falls, the caves of St. Martins, Fundy National Park and the Hopewell Rocks. Completion is due for 2013.

Fundy Biosphere Reserve News

The Bayview welcomes the news in November 2007 that Unesco has designated this area as a Unesco Biosphere Reserve. This designation will highlight the importance of the Bay of Fundy and encourage environmental awareness.

The Photographic Arts of Cynthia Sedgwick

The Bayview is honored to feature the photographic art of award winning photographer Cynthia Sedgwick. On her first visit to Alma last September, Cindy was spellbound by the contrasts in color and texture that make up the beaches, forests and villages of the Fundy Coast. Her pictures are featured exclusively in the Chalets and Motel. If you are looking for a unique and timeless souvenir of your vacation, framed and unframed prints and art cards are available at the office.
